The Car Key is a key that is used to unlock the Trunk and start the Car in Granny.

Appearance

The Car Key has a pentagon-shaped handle, with a rectangular hole cut out in the middle. The handle is made of a yellowish-tan wood. The blade is made of faintly scratched metal, and it has three teeth.

Usage

The Car Key can be used to open the Car's Trunk to access whatever spawns inside, as well as the Gasoline Tank. The Car Key can also be used to start up the Car and use it to ram the Plywood Wall to escape. You will need to fix up the Car and lift the Garage Door, however.

Trivia

  • The Car Key's design looks much more like one from the mid 1900s, as modern car keys are usually made of black plastic.
  • The Car Key uses the same texture as the Weapon Key.
  • Despite the fact that other keys can trigger Bear Traps, the Car Key cannot for some reason.
  • If they're trying to unlock the Car without making noise, the Player should try to drop the key on the Shelf Rack, the roof of the Car, the Trunk, or the table.
  • The Car Key and the Padlock Key are the only keys to have two uses in the game.
  • In Version 1.4, this item was required to escape the house, as there was no way to escape with the car, and inside the trunk was an item always needed to escape from the house.
  • There is a glitch which existed from Version 1.7 to Version 1.7.7 in which the Player could take the item inside the trunk and even fill up the Gasoline Tank without using the Car Key. This meant that the Car Key was not required to beat the game if one wished to escape with the Main Door.
  • The Car Key and the Birdseed are the only items in the game that have not changed any one of there locations since their release.
  • The Car Key is one of the few items that has not had any spawning location changes in Version 1.8.
  • The Car Key, along with the Weapon Key, Special Key, Spider Key, and the Rusty Padlock Key use the general pick-up sound instead of the one used for keys, for some reason.
