The Chest Puzzle is a hazardous puzzle added to Granny in Version 1.8. It consists of two chests, and only one is safe to open, as the wrong one is rigged to explode.

Description

There are two Chests parallel to each other located in the Chest Room, facing the Elevator. They are made of light brown wooden planks, and have a steel frame. Both chests are hollow in-game, but one chest is destined to contain an item. Both Chests have a number label on them, with the left Chest having the number "1" on it, and the right Chest having the number "2" on it.

Behavior

In-game, the two chests have randomized loots. One Chest will have an item, while the other is rigged to explode, killing the Player and wasting one of their Days.

Chest Code

The only way to actually know which one of these Chests is safe to open, the player is required to find the Chest Code. The Chest Code has either "1" or "2" written on it, which indicates the number of the safe to open chest.

The Chest Code randomly spawns in one of listed below locations:

• Spider Cellar - In cupboard #1's room, on the front wall;
• Spider Cellar Tunnel - In the Garage vent intersection, on the wall;
• Secret Area Entrance - On the wall opposite to the stairs, next to the entrance doorway;
• Old House Dining Room - On the wall to the left, above the table;
• Old House Kitchen - On the stairs' wall, facing towards the staircase going down;
• Study - In the Wardrobe;
• Kitchen - Inside of the locker, on the backwall, top shelf;
• Backyard - On the pallet, close the the ajar window;
• Shed - Inside, on the wall with the cracked glass;
• Jail - Next to the Shelf

Spawning

One out of two chests will contain a useful item inside, that item depending on which Preset you are playing.

Trivia

• The Chest Puzzle is reminiscent with the Safe and the 3-code puzzle in The Twins as the Player needs to find codes all around the House.
  • Except for the knockout and alert. Both the puzzles from The Twins will never alert the enemies (not the Safe). However, the ones on Granny will knockout the Player.
• There is a softlock related to the Chest Puzzle, which requires the player to open a chest, while being behind it. This will get them stuck in place with no way out.
• It is the smallest Chest in the game. While the largest ones being the Chest near the Attic and the Backyard's Guillotine.
  • It is also the first Chest in the game to add an item and as a Puzzle while the Normal Chest is only known for hiding yourself with no items spawning in there.
• The Chest Puzzle is the second Chest to be added into the game. The first one is the Chest, which is used for hiding.
• The Chest Puzzle explosion shares the same sound when the Gasoline Can explodes.
  • It also shares the same effect when explodes.
• The Chest Puzzle can be used to kill Granny as a weapon.
  • A procedure of this done by a YouTuber named, 'True entertainer' can be seen here.
  • It is also the seventh way to kill Granny in the game.
    • However, this procedure can only be done by using a mod.
  • Actually, there is a writing on these chests that reads "Des Produits Chimiques de et a Tessenderloo." in French. You can see more detail in the texture of the chests.
    • Its translation is as follows: "Chemicals from and to Tessenderloo."
