Granny is a horror survival videogame fully worked on by an indie developer, DVloper, known by his real life name as Dennis Vukanovic. The game is a part of the Granny videogame series, being the first and followed by Granny: Chapter Two and Granny 3. It was first published on Google Play for Android devices on November 24th, 2017, later on App Store for iOS devices on December 12th, 2017 and lastly on Steam for Windows devices on November 20th, 2018.
Around March of 2018 the game became a big trend in the gaming community as many people started playing and making fan work on it, and many popular YouTubers made videos on it. The game has currently been downloaded over 100 million times, has over 3 million reviews and a rating of 4,4 out of 5 on Google Play.

Welcome to Granny.
Granny keeps you locked in her house and she will not let you go.
You wake up in a dark room, you have a headache and it feels like someone have hit you in the head.
The only thing that lights up the room is your flashlight lying on a table.
The main door is covered with different locks and now you have to search the house and find keys and other objects to unlock the door and escape this house.
But you have to be careful because Granny hears everything and if you drop something on the floor or walking on a creaking floor she will start running to the place she heard that sound.
You also need to watch out for her bear traps and other things lurking in the dark, like her pets, for example.
You can hide in wardrobes and coffins but be careful that she does not see you where you are hiding.
There is another way to escape.
At the bottom of this house there is a garage. In the garage there is an old car. If you manage to start it and open the garage door you can escape that way.
You can protect yourself from Granny using one of the two different types of weapons you can find in the house. But it only stops her for a while. But it's worth it.
There are five different levels of difficulty.
Extreme, Hard, Normal, Easy and Practice.
If you play in Practice mode, you are in the house without Granny and have the opportunity to try different things without major difficulties. But the house is not completely free from dangers.
Granny gives you five days in the house but you can earn a extra day if you do something for her.
If you have failed to escape after the last day... well, probably you can figure out what happens then.

Game concept
The game begins with a short backstory: the protagonist comes near a huge house while walking in a forest late at night, where they soon notice something that looks like a rotting woman which knocks them unconscious with a baseball bat. They later wake up on a bed in a bedroom of the previously mentioned house.
The player has to explore the house, finding items, using them and solving puzzles to progress in the game all while avoiding getting attacked by various enemies. The player has five days, or simply five attempts, to win the game; getting knocked out sends them to the next day, sending them to their initial spawn location, and after losing on the fifth attempt, the player loses the game. The player wins the game when they make their way out of the house using either of the three available escape methods, each of which are locked by certain obstacles that the player must find ways to remove.
Granny is the main antagonist of the game who chases the player when they get on her line of sight, can hear any item falling, places bear traps to trap them, and knocks them out when they get close enough to her. The player can hide from Granny using various hiding spots to avoid her chasing them down, however, if they hide while already being chased, Granny will shove them out of their hiding spot and knock them out. The player can combat against Granny using weapons, which some knock her out for a short amount of time, and some put her at other disadvantages.
The player can customize their experience of the game using settings, such as the game's difficulty, having music music on or off, dark fog that shortens their vision range, and a special mode that changes the house's appearance, soundtrack and adds additional enemies.
History
The game was originally released on November 24th, 2017. for Android devices, and for iOS the same year on December 11th.
Since March 2018, the game has become increasingly popular in the gaming community, as YouTubers such as DanTDM, DashieGames, Denis, Kindly Keyin ,John Wolfe, LightningBlueDragon, Laurenzside, True entertainer, FGTeeV, Thinknoodles, Vividplays Channel, Dizowskyy, GamersTurk and many more youtubers have made a lot videos on it.
The game has later received a paid PC port published on the Steam platform on November 20, 2018. The game was available for purchase for US $4.99 until it was taken down sometime during May 2022 for unstated reasons, making it impossible to play on PC. (Unless you downloaded it before removal.), although it was put back on Steam on June 23, 2023.
The game's latest version is 1.8.1 which was released on August 24th. for Android devices only. On iOS, the game's latest version is still 1.8 and was released November 24th, 2022, although for the PC Port the game's current version is 1.3.1 which was released on August 8th, 2023.

Trivia
- Judging from the screenshot seen in this tweet, DVloper had been considering a PC port since before April 2018, however, the Steam release would not be put together at all until October of that year, and the game wouldn't actually launch until next month on November 20th, very close to the game's 1st anniversary.
- Interestingly, Granny is the only game by DVloper, which does not include a Crowbar as an item in-game.
- This is first game to get an update that changes the entire look of the map, the Second game is: House of Slendrina.
- The font used for the game logo is "Mesquite std".
- The font used for interface elements such as tooltips, the player's quotes, is called "Monotype Corsiva".
- This game is most famous among all of DVloper's games.
