The Jail is a room located in the Attic. It contains an item behind the Jail Ventilator (a fan that is found on the back wall of the Jail Cell) on each preset. The Hammer is required to enter this room, as it is needed to obtain a Plank to place across the Unstable Flooring and cross over.
Description
The inside of the Jail Cell
The Jail overall looks like a generic room in the Attic, with gray chipped walls and dark, with old and desaturated planks for both the floor and the ceiling.
It is a pretty open room with a shelf and most notably, a Jail Cell inside it. Inside the Jail Cell, there is a Wheelchair, the Jail Ventilator, and a Security Camera.
Gameplay
Security Camera
The Security Camera is placed in the corner of the cell, and it will detect when the Player enters. The camera will then begin beeping, drawing Granny to the cell.
To avoid getting locked, the Player can break the camera by using the Hammer, as there is a small section of the bars that has been cut out, allowing the Player to break it from outside of the cell. However, if already locked in the cell, the Player can escape by removing the two red screws from the door's hinges. Once this happens, the door will slowly fall over until it hits the floor, creating a loud noise which alerts Granny. However, at this point it is very likely that Granny has already been alerted by the Security Camera or the Red Screws, so this does not add to the challenge.
Breaking the Security Camera makes noise, so the Player should be ready to hide or create an auditory distraction somewhere else. This can easily be done by throwing the Blue Vase through the Unstable Flooring hole.

Jail Door
The Jail Door is the door that leads into the Jail Cell, and it is always open by default. The door will only close if the player enters the Jail.

Jail Ventilator
The Jail Ventilator is a small fan on the back wall of the cell, and it ventilates the room. It is composed of 4 parts: a power supply, a cable, and spinning fan, and an internal compartment (which contains an item). The fan will always spin, blocking the Player from accessing the item behind it, as trying to grab the item will harm the Player (presumably because the fan has cut the Player's fingers as it's spinning fairly fast). However, the fan can be turned off, by cutting the cable that supplies it power with the Cutting Pliers or Chain Cutter. Having completed this, the item inside the internal compartment behind the fan can be picked up safely. To see which items can spawn behind the Jail Ventilator, see Item Locations.

Strategies
- It is recommended to break the Security Camera, as freeing yourself from the Jail Cell makes a lot of noise and is very risky. Furthermore, dismantling the Jail Door and going out takes a few extra seconds than just going straight out, and which could be the difference between getting to safety and getting caught. And those few extra seconds may determine the player's fate sometimes.
- If need to, you can hide behind the Wheelchair to get out of sight, but if you aren't quick enough or peek too far out around the corner, Granny may enter the cell and attack you, sending you to the next day, or a Game Over if it's your last day.
Trivia
- Previously, some items could spawn in the Jail. Examples are:
- Battery (Preset #1) [Prior to Version 1.7]
- Padlock Key (Preset #2 and #4) [Prior to Version 1.3 for Preset #2 and prior to Version 1.5 for preset #4]
- Engine Part (Preset #3) [Prior to Version 1.7]
- Orange Cogwheel (Preset #5) [Prior to Version 1.8]
- The Wheelchair inside the jail cell may suggest that one of Granny's victims, or she herself was disabled.
- The jail cell not having a bed or a toilet, shows how poorly Granny treats her victims.
- The cobwebs on the wheelchair suggest that Granny has not been in this room for a while, which is evident by the fact that she never goes here on her own.
- This would also explain why Granny does not seem to know about the faulty cell door, which can easily be dismantled.
- There is a bug that may occasionally happen, where Granny sees The Player inside the Jail Cell, and walk away with an unusually low-pitched laugh (the original laughing sound from the files). A video of this can be seen here.
- Getting inside the Jail Cell will always lead to making a noise the first time you do so, because if you break the Security Camera with the Hammer, it will make a noise, and if the Jail Door slams onto the ground after you take out the screws, it'll make a noise as well.
- Before V1.8, cutting the cable of the fan would not create a spark effect.
