I need a Screwdriver.
The Player

The Screwdriver Safes are safes that are required the Screwdriver to open. The first one (SA Bottom Floor) was added in Version 1.1. The second one (Pipe Room) was added to Granny in Version 1.8.

Appearance

There are two Screwdriver Safes in Granny. One is located in the Secret Area Bottom Floor, built into the stairs leading into the room. The other one is located in the Pipe Room, being built into the large pillar that's within the room.

Both Screwdriver Safes are small compartments carved out from walls, with a rusty metal panel covering them, bolted down with old flat-head screws. The Screwdriver Safe in the Secret Area Bottom Floor is cubic, very rusty, and is made of a dark gray metal, as well as having only two screws keeping it in place. The Screwdriver Safe in the Pipe Room is elongated and rectangular, and has less rust, while also being made of a lighter color metal. It also has four screws keeping it in place.

Actions

The Screwdriver Safes serve to house one important item, which could be a key, cogwheel, or other items. To open a Screwdriver Safe, you will need the Screwdriver. While holding the Screwdriver, the Player will manually need to interact with every screw to unscrew them. Once all screws are off, the metal panel will fall off, and the contents of the safe will be exposed.

Spawning

Different items will always spawn inside both of the Screwdriver Safes. The items that spawn in the safes are determined by the Preset you're playing on;

Trivia

  • The Screwdriver Safe in the Secret Area Bottom Floor is the only Screw-locked object in a DVloper game to use only two screws to keep it in place.
  • The Screwdriver Safe's panel in the Secret Area Bottom Floor was re-textured to a rusty version in Version 1.7.9.3.
  • The Screwdriver Safe in the Secret Area Bottom Floor used to have a different appearance, instead of a rusty, chipping maroon color-like panel, it used to have a solid metal panel with black nails screwed diagonally into it, an image can be seen below in the gallery section.
    • This was done to prove of how old the panel was.
  • When the panels of the Screwdriver Safes fall off, they have different methods of doing so.
    • The panel in the Secret Area Bottom Floor is physics-based.
    • Whereas the panel in the Pipe Room is animated.
      • The Panel in the Backyard is also physics based, which means that the panel in the Pipe Room is the odd one out.
      • The animation for the panel is reused from the Twins, which has a very similar appearance. As a result, DVloper may have reused the animation to add a sense of polish.
  • The Screwdriver Safe in the secret area used to make noise with the falling panel when it was opened. Since the floor in general no makes no sound, the panel no longer makes noise, and therefore is no longer a hazard.
  • In Preset #3, the Player will not need to open either Screwdriver Safe for the Pipe Escape method.
    • The Playhouse Key is contained in the Secret Area compartment, and the Master Key is in the Cogwheel Safe.
    • The Spark Plug is contained in the Pipe Room compartment.
    • Preset #4 also has the same circumstances, as the Padlock Key is in the Secret Area compartment, while the Master Key is in the Pipe Room compartment.
  • The Spark Plug and the Orange Cogwheel are one of the items (that are not keys) can spawn in the Screwdriver Safes in the Pipe Room. Maybe due to the Safes' height.
  • There's a glitch where if you throw an item near the Pipe Room's Screwdriver Safe's Covers. After you unscrewed it and it will fall, laying on the ground where the item will suddenly fall out of the map.
    • The item will later spawn back at the Well.
  • Before Version 1.8, the Safe Key could spawn on the Secret Area Bottom Floor's Screwdriver Safe twice on Presets #2 and #4.
