For the Security Cameras in Granny: Chapter Two, go here!

I need a Hammer.
The Player

The Security Camera is a structure in Granny that was added in Version 1.2 along with the Attic, itself.

Description

The Security Camera is placed in the top right corner inside the Jail (it is still accessible from the outside). If it sees the Player enter the jail cell, it will lock the door to the cell shut. The Security Camera will then begin beeping, alerting Granny. To escape, the Player must remove the two Jail door hinges and knock down the door, making more noise. After that, the Security Camera will not function again.

Appearance

The Camera appears to be a modern Surveillance Camera. It consists of an aged rectangular greyish-green metal block, with a lens on the front side. It has a glowing red light right next to the lens whenever it is active, and the light flickers between white and red when it is watching the Player. The light turns to black when the Camera is smashed.

Gameplay

The Security Camera's purpose is to lock the Player in the Jail, requiring the Player to unhinge the Jail Door by unhinging the bolts. To avoid getting locked in, the Player can break the camera using the Hammer, which will cause the Camera to brake and emit sparks as well as lead Granny to itself to investigate the noise. Either way, breaking the Camera or getting trapped in the Jail will alert Granny, although the former method of handling the area doesn't have you spend extra time trying to leave the room.

Trivia

  • The Security Camera, TV (including the Satellite receiver and console), the Remote control, Microwave and the Battery are the only pieces of modern technology in Granny's house.
  • It is technically unknown who is watching the player via the camera once they've entered the Jail cell.
    • It could be an automatic camera, meaning that the camera detects movement inside of the Jail.
  • If the Player commits suicide in the Jail while the Security Camera is beeping (through an explosion with the Gasoline Can), the Security Camera will continue beeping until Granny investigates on the next day.
  • The audio file for the Camera beep is named "Sci Fi Beep", which could mean that the sound is from a science fiction movie.
