The Special Room is a room that was added in Version 1.5. It is a rather empty room at the top of the house, but it hides a very lethal hazard.
Description
A small cage in the corner is the home to the Spider, Granny's pet, which is trained to bite the Player on sight. if they get bitten, they will be sent to the next Day, or receive a Game Over if they are already on their last day. Furthermore, it is a deadly hazard to the Player.
There is a Creaking Floor next to the small table by the stairs, as well as three Barrels similar to those in the Basement. This room will also contain a Locker that will always keep an item inside of it, and an Empty Plate where the Meat is placed for the Spider to eat.
As soon as the Shotgun is assembled, three rounds of Shotgun Ammunition will spawn on top of the table, which can, obviously be used, although it is limited.
Appearance
The Special Room is pretty big, with somewhat larger cobwebs scattered around the room. It has a table, a cage with the Spider inside of it, a locker, and a few barrels. The floor is made out of wood in a shade of a light-brown color, while the wall is made out concrete, with a ton of marks, dents and scratches. On the ceiling of the room, a couple of wooden beams can be seen, used to stabilize the ceiling so it doesn't collapse. A long piece of wood is used as a makeshift barrier, so Granny doesn't fall down the stairs.

Access
Initially, this room is blocked by a rusty door at the back of the Attic, right beside the Chest. When the Special Key is inserted into the circular lock beside the right side of the door, the door will slide over. In the passageway beyond, there is another flight of stairs which will lead up to this room.
Overview
Since Granny will never come here on her own unless a noise is made, this is one of the safest places in the house if the Player shoots the Red Button, preventing the Spider from moving. The only exception is the Creaking Floor, but it doesn't exist in Easy or Extreme mode, making this room even safer.
Trivia
- Starting from V1.5, the Special Room is the highest point of the house.
- Prior to Version 1.5, the Attic was the highest point of the house, and prior to Version 1.2, the Upper Floor was the highest point of the house.
- The Special Room is the first room that requires a key to unlock and gain access to it.
- It was later followed by the Spider Cellar in the Version 1.8, and coincidentally, both have spiders.
- It is unknown if Granny intentionally trained the Spider to catch the Player, but it could be assumed given its hostility towards the Player but complete ignorance of Granny. Furthermore, its role is to guard a Locker that will always contain an item, so she possibly set it up as an extra challenge for the Player.
- If the Player inserts the Special Key in order to secure entry to the room, it creates a large amount of noise, but it doesn't alert Granny.
- There is an occasional Glitch where Granny will walk through the door before it is unlocked. The Player must drop an item wall of the jail door, and sometimes she will go through the door and up to the Special Room.
- The Creaking Floor in this room doesn't exist in Extreme. This could be due to Granny's intense speed and lack of nearby hiding spots, or it could have simply been a mistake made when developing the new area.
- In Extreme or Darker mode, the dirt decal around the Empty Plate will be rendered at full brightness despite the surrounding darkness, which is helpful for the Player to see where to put the Meat down.
- Granny never comes in the Special Room on her own will, which also applies with the Sewer and the Jail.
