The Target Lock is a lock that was added to the game in Version 1.7. It initially locks the door to the Sewer Cell, and when a Tranquilizer Dart or a piece of ammunition is fired by viewing through the small window, it flips the switch, thus giving the player access to the Sewer Cell.
Appearance
The Target Lock consists 2 parts, a red circle and a "T" shaped rusty metal rod holding the red, dirty circle and connected to a bar keeping the door locked. It appears to be rusty and old.
Strategies
Similarly to the Red Button, if using a Tranquilizer Dart, aim and shoot above the switch due to gravity, as it drops down if aimed in any way, but if using the Shotgun, shoot directly at the lock. If the player hits it successfully, the lock will flip 90 degrees backwards, unlocking the door and giving access to the Sewer Cell.
Trivia
- As of now, it is the first and the only lock in the game that must be opened by a weapon, instead of a normal key or a puzzle item.
- The target point of the Target Lock shares the same texture with the body of Master Key's handle the and Red Cogwheel.
- It is unknown how Granny locked the door from the inside.
- It could be because of the weak wall on the Window side of the cell.
- However, weak walls don't exist in the PC version, which makes it a bit confusing.
- The target is similar to the Red Button in the Special Room connected to the Spider Cage, as it also needs a weapon to activate.
- However, the button is used for closing the cage, while the target is used for opening the door.
- The target has also a similar color to the Red Button in the Special Room as they are both red, though the color red of this target is rusty and chipping off and the color of the Red Button is smooth and is probably not made of metal.
- On V1.8, there's a glitch where you can unlock the Sewer Cell's Door by putting the Crossbow and the Tranquilizer Darts and aiming through the Door, and the darts will instantly go through the Door, hitting the Target Lock.
- This only works if you timed it perfectly.
- This doesn't work using the Shotgun due to its size.
- If the Player enters while the door is locked using a mod menu or no-clipping through the house, they won't be able to interact with the Target Lock.
