The Teddy is a various use item in the videogame Granny. It is a step in achieving the secret ending and also a way to get enemies to your location due to its side effect.

Appearance

The Teddy is a dirty gray/grey teddy bear. It looks as though it once had been white. It also looks like its eyes and nose are sewn on buttons. It's covered in dirt and mold. Tiny drops of blood can be seen on its snout. It has a big, brown, and tan body with long, lanky, yet stiff limbs with rounded tips. It has small circular ears. He is cute and was brightly colored in pictures in Slendrina: The School before the Teddy fell victim to the grime at Granny's house.

Nightmare

The Teddy is slightly covered with blood in Nightmare mode, as is everything else in the house. Its appearance in Nightmare mode doesn't differ from regular mode any further than being lathered in old, congealed blood, possibly from the Previous Victim.

Christmas

This appearance change only happens on the menu, but in Version 1.7.7, Teddy wears a santa hat when waving in the menu. This hat is not applied in-game.

Description

While the player is holding the Teddy, a continuous, rapid-heartbeat loop will play, Granny's and Spider Mom's eyes will turn into glowing red. Granny and Spider Mom will also always be aware of your location and presence, no matter where you go. This applies to hiding in Cabinets, Chests, the Car or underneath a Bed. Although if you hide in places where Granny cannot enter, she will still be aware of your location. If you drop Teddy, Granny's eyes will slowly turn into her normal form, the heartbeat loop will also gradually start to fade away, and Granny possibly won't be aware of your presence and your location anymore, or in short, all of the effects will fade away.

If the player drops it in the Crib in the Nursery, Slendrina will appear as a ghostly fog emanates from beneath her, and the Slendrina theme will play briefly before she disappears. Suppose the player is fast enough and manages to place the Teddy in the crib while Granny is awake. In that case, she will teleport back to the bloodstain in the Basement and forget the Player's location, giving them time to escape and/or check out Slendrina.

As of Version 1.3.2, if you beat the game after unlocking the Easter egg, you will get a special ending, where Granny holds the Teddy whilst Slendrina watches over them, but you must escape with the Main Door.

Teddy can ALSO be used as a deterrent, surprisingly. If you kill the spider when Granny is awake, you can grab Teddy to stop the heartbeat effect WITHOUT killing Granny.

Tricks

Here are the few popular strategies for doing the procedure. Keep in mind that the Nursery should be unlocked before doing these and this is only recommended for the Easy and Normal modes, due to the super-fast speed of Granny on both Hard and Extreme mode.

1. Kill Granny and then deliver Teddy safely.
2. Make noise in Backyard to lure Granny outside for a while and head to Hidden Closet and get Teddy. Then, head to the Attic while Granny is coming inside as you will be a bit ahead of her and can safely throw the Teddy into the Crib.
3. Take the Teddy and run to the Secret Area Tunnel. Drop something to the Screwdriver Safe area to lure Granny to go there. Then, you have to exit through the other side and go fast up to the Attic while holding the Teddy.
4. Go to the Hidden Closet and throw the Teddy out. Hide there and wait for Granny to leave. Then, go down and do the secret area trick, grab the Teddy and run to the Attic.

Another trick (Less Difficult):

1. Take teddy in the Secret Passage and wait for Granny. Try to make noise there too.
2. When Granny comes, run into the hiding area in the basement.
3. Run into the Backyard and wait for Granny.
4. When she comes out, run into the house, and drop Teddy there.

Trivia

• The model Teddy uses was originally created by CrimsonZA on TurboSquid.
• The Teddy's heartbeat sound first appeared in the first trailer of Slendrina: The Cellar.
• The Teddy is originated from the game, Slendrina: The School.
• Many Youtubers refers the Teddy as a 'cursed' toy due to the heartbeat being played when holding and how Granny managed to follow the Player when its hold.
• If the Player gets caught by Granny while holding the Teddy, the Teddy will always spawn back in the Hidden Closet the next day.
• As of Version 1.7.1, the Teddy will slide onto the screen for a few seconds and wave itself.
• There is a bug in which you can receive the Secret Ending without delivering the Teddy. If you have delivered the Teddy on a previous version of the game and updated or you forcefully shut the game down in the middle of the gameplay where you did deliver the Teddy. A video of this being done can be seen here.
• On the PC Port, when teddy is dropped in the crib, a giant light will appear before Slendrina appears.
• Teddy is the only item in the game that doesn't make a sound when dropped.
• This is most likely a toy from when Slendrina was a child. This is the reason why Granny enters rage mode once teddy is held due to the fact that she loves Slendrina and taking the Teddy will make her feel that someone stole something that was from someone whom Granny loves so much as she loves Slendrina so much.
