— The Player |
The Wire Lock is one of several locks in Granny. It has two segments, both unlocked with the use of the Cutting Pliers. The Player needs to unlock it in order to escape through the Main Door.
Appearance
The Wire Lock is a black rectangular prism attached to the frame of the Main Door. It has 2 square, L.E.D lights that change color. They appear in a red color when no wires are cut, and a light turns green when its respective wire is cut. There is a blue wire protruding from the top of the lock that enters the wall behind it.
Mechanics
The Wire Lock has two parts, the top part, and the bottom part. Both are red when the Player first starts the game. If a part of the Wire Lock is unlocked, the part that was unlocked will turn green.
To deactivate the bottom part, use either the Cutting Pliers or the Chain Cutter on the wire inside the Circuit Breaker located in the Basement. Doing so turns the bottom L.E.D green.
To deactivate the top part, you also need to use either the Cutting Pliers or the Chain Cutter on the wire on top of the Wire Lock itself. When cut, the top L.E.D turns green.
Trivia
- Up to now, it's the only lock in the Main Door has two parts in different places.
- The LEDs on the Wire Lock, the Car's dashboard dials, the Camera's Light, the Remote Control LED, and Granny's glowing eyes are the only two objects in the PC version of the game that illuminate without the Flashlight.
- Prior to Version 1.3, the Wire Lock background that the LEDs were on used to be light grey, but was changed to black. However, in the PC version, the background is still light grey.
- Since V1.8, cutting the Wire Lock will make a loud sparking noise. However, it doesn't actually alert Granny.
- In the older versions, it would just instead make a quiet cutting noise.
